New Kent is a historic, growing village southeast of Richmond, and located conveniently equidistant from Richmond and Williamsburg. It is roughly 30 miles to either one. Richmond International Airport is just 5 miles west of the New Kent county line, but New Kent also houses a local airport, the New Kent County Airport, as well.

New Kent is a golfer's paradise, with three superb courses just within New Kent itself. In addition, nearby Richmond and Williamsburg are, of course, known to house many golf courses as well. Colonial Downs racetrack is a horse racing venue and that hosts both harness and thoroughbred events. The Downs draws many visitors to New Kent property, as it is the only licensed home for live pari-mutuel racing in the entire Commonwealth of Virginia. For automotive enthusiasts, there is also a sports car track under construction in the New Kent area.

New Kent has a proud and long history, starting with its founding as a British settlement in the mid 17th century. It is the birthplace and former home of two first ladies: Martha Washington and Letitia Christian Tyler.

An old tradition New Kent, The New Kent County Fair and Parade has been a summertime celebration since the WWII era. The fair draws local home owners and from all over the surrounding areas, and a strong community showing is the norm. A newer tradition for those who call New Kent home is Lucia's Restaurant on Pocahantas Trail. Don't be fooled by the unassuming looks of its outsides. New Kent locals they flock to it, for Lucia's is a local treasure known to serve up the best Italian food in the area.

New Kent is an excellent place to raise children, and has a continous offering of excellent schools ranging from grades K through 12 on city real estate, just minutes from home: New Kent Primary, George W. Watkins Elementary, New Kent Middle and New Ken High School.
