Doswell, Virginia

Roughly 25 miles north of downtown Richmond, and 35 miles south of Fredericksburg, Doswell is 30 minutes away from Richmond International Airport, and the home of Paramount's King's Dominion, one of the premiere theme parks in the South.
Great shopping and dining in Doswell can be found on King Dominion's International Street, with its beautiful lit fountains and famed Eiffel Tower replica. Doswell also houses one of the best-preserved rural-type stores in Hanover County, historic Squashapenny Junction. For almost a century, Squashapenny Junction, located on the railroad tracks near what is now an Amtrak station, served as a gathering place for Doswell home owners and residents. It has since been restored and converted into a store specializing in fine antiques, and draws customers from the surrounding areas.
Doswell is the historic home of the battlefield of North Anna, in Hanover County Park, one of the most important battlefields of the Civil War. Hanover County Park itself is a beautiful nature reserve enjoyed by Doswell residents that is also home the best preserved Civil War trenches in the US. The real estate was donated to the county by a local quarry for its beauty and historical significant.
Each year, the Hanover County Rotary Club sponsors the ever-popular Shrimp'n Suds Feast at King's Dominion Pavillion. The Shrimp'n Suds Feats is an annual community benefit in Doswell that draws visitors from all over Central Virginia. This popular summer event housed in Doswell showcases the region's spiced shrimp, and includes family activities, a beer garden, and live music acts.
Doswell is an excellent place for families because of its safe, close-knit community and convenient location near King's Dominion. Those who choose to invest in Doswell real estate also enjoy easy commutes to two of Virginia's major cities, in Richmond and Fredericksburg.
