About Texas

Even though Texas is universally known as "The Lone Star State", there are mixed opinions as to why it earned that nickname. Some historians argue that the single star represented the wish of many Texans to achieve statehood in the United States. Others say that the lone star originally represented Texas as the lone state of Mexico which was attempting to uphold its rights under the Mexican Constitution of 1824. According to Wikipedia, claimed its independence from Mexico in 1836, and wasn't added to the United States until 9 years later in 1845.
Texas - the second most populous state in the nation, as well as the second largest state has more than half of its population living in either the Dallas/Fort Worth area, or the Houston area. The city of Houston alone has a population of nearly 2 million (4th most populous in the nation), and Dallas has just over 1.1 million. Dallas is the 8th or 9th most populated city depending on what records you reference.
Texas real estate prices vary widely, and change dramatically. It is best to check with your local real estate professional to determine what areas might represent the best investments at any given time.
