Another large employer in the area is the Scott & White Memorial hospital, which is the largest employer within the city limits. Proud of its reputation as a regional medical center, the city has more physicians per capita than any other community in the United States. The headquarters of two multi-national corporations are also located within
the city; McLane Company and Wilsonart International. Together, these corporate headquarters employ nearly 5% of the local population. There are also a large number of regional distribution centers either in the city or a short distance away.
