Corporate headquarters located within the city include Frito-Lay, JC Penny, Perot Systems, and UGS. Most of these corporations relocated to the area in the 1980s, further increasing the population of the area and causing a boom in the economy. Other corporations with a large presence in the area include the Cadbury Schweppes Americas Beverages Corporation, which was formerly known as Dr. Pepper/Seven Up Inc. , along with Countrywide, Insight Enterprises, Texas Instruments, Rug Doctor, Ericsson, and Rent-A-Center.
Plano housing is considered to be some of the most expensive housing in the area, due to the fact that the suburb is considered an affluent one. Although most of the resident of the city are considered middle class, there are a large number of luxury homes in the area that become available for purchase for individuals that would
wish to relocate to the area. The median asking price for Plano, Texas homes is slightly more than $192,000, with many of the offerings in the area topping $250,000.

Lifestyle

Plano, Texas is considered one of the best places to live in the nation. Residents enjoy a large number of employment opportunities in the area, along with excellent schools and a high quality of life. In fact, the Plano Independent School District is considered one of the best school districts in the United States. The city was planned utilizing a grid layout which made expansion simple and allowed newcomers to find their way around the city with ease. Today, the city is considered one of the largest suburbs of Dallas and it is believed that the population is beginning to stabilize due to the lack of room for the expansion of the city.
There are many outdoor activities available in the city of Plano. There are numerous parks and open spaces throughout the city that are home to playgrounds, biking trails, walking trails, and areas dedicated to outdoor sports. There is even a nature preserve located within the city. The climate of the city makes it possible for residents to enjoy outdoor activities throughout the year and the close proximity of water to the city makes water sports available to the residents as well. Residents have the option of sailing, fishing, waterskiing, or just relaxing near the waters of the area.
