The water park has a 16,000 square foot wave pool and possesses the world's longest and tallest uphill water rollercoaster, a creation called the Green Extreme. The city is also home to one of the best 18-hole municipal golf courses in Texas, the Iron Horse Golf Course. There are close to 1,000 acres of parks and open space in the city, featuring tennis courts, basketball courts, playgrounds, picnic areas, baseball diamonds, and football fields.
The city is known for a great deal of other items as well. The parks and recreation department for the city has been nationally recognized on several occasions for the number of recreational activities that it offers to the residents of North Richland Hills. The city has a low crime rate and a school system that has been rated as excellent. There are also many shopping and dining venues located within the city. Individuals that wish to experience world class entertainment can travel to the nearby Dallas/Ft. Worth metropolitan area to a number of different entertainment venues.
