The city is served by the Midland International Airport, which also serves the nearby community of Odessa, a large portion of western Texas and south-eastern New Mexico.

Economy

Midland, Texas real estate is located near the oil rich fields of the Permian Basin, the site of one of the largest oil deposits in the nation. Many of the individuals that live in the area work in an administrative or supervisory capacity in the oil industry. The Permian Basin currently produces about 20% of all of the natural gas and petroleum produced in the nation. The telecommunications industry also has a strong presence in the area.

The city of Midland has been ranked as one of the top 150 places to live in the nation for twelve years in a row. Midland housing is comprised of nearly 40,000 housing units, 4,000 of which may be on the real estate market at any given time. The neighborhoods are laid out with wide streets and freely flowing traffic patterns. The average price for homes in the area is slightly more than $86,000 and includes single family homes, luxury homes, apartments, and condos.

Lifestyle

The city of Midland prides itself on being a cultural district for the region. The city is home to the region's premier orchestral assembly and attracts some of the best musicians in the state. The orchestra performs concerts throughout the year and provided culture and entertainment to residents and visitors alike. The city also has a grand community theatre that performs about 15 shows each year. The shows may be mysteries, musicals, dramas, comedies, melodramas, or theatre for children. There are also numerous museums in the area, housing many different subjects such as the history of the petroleum industry, art, race cars, and aviation.
