The railway first brought folks to Windsor, Colorado where wheat and sugar farming were big business. The irrigation systems that were developed here helped to increase area productivity and thus stimulated the growth of this much loved town. The town later drew the in the mega corporation of Kodak where they opened a manufacturing plant after farming died out.

The central location of the town in northern Colorado and its convenience along one of the state's major roadways, have contributed to its rapid urban growth. Particularly on the western edge of town, residents can find many different kinds of developments that offer every kind of housing option.
