Evergreen HistoryIn 1859, a man by the name of Thomas Bergen decided to create his homestead in what is now Evergreen, Colorado. The surrounding hills did not have much appeal for the miners in the area, so Bergen established a ranch and stage stop to bring revenue into his community. Over time, many other ranchers, farmers, and lumbermen decided to settle there as well, slowly growing the community into the tranquil mountain town of today.
The town was a summer resort for the rich and famous from the early 1920's to the late 1940's,
with the population of the city doubling every summer. When roads were improved in the 1950's and
automobile travel became more popular, many new residents decided to invest in
