Arvada, Colorado is located about seven miles northwest of Denver, Colorado.
It is considered the 8th
most populous city in Colorado with a population of nearly 104,000 residents. The city has a total
area of nearly 33 square miles and is located within close proximity to Denver International Airport.
The climate of the city is mild with temperatures reaching a low of 13 degrees in January and a high
of 88 degrees in July. Arvada, CO is accessible by three interstate highways and is bordered by the
communities of Golden to the west, Westminster to the north, and
Lakewood to the south.
History of ArvadaArvada's origins begin with the gold rush of the mid 1800's. When gold was discovered in Clear Creek, prospectors began to flock to the area, followed by farmers hoping to make a profit by supplying the prospectors and miners who had made the area their home. The farmers discovered that the land was rich and could support a wide variety of crops, at one time gaining Arvada a reputation as the celery capitol of the world. The town was named in 1870, even before it was a town at all, just because a name was needed for the train station.
