If you have not gotten your ticket yet, there is still time, but you better hurry because this year’s Greeley Stampede has a fantastic lineup! From live music to their world famous rodeo, the Greeley Stampede promises to be fun for the whole family. This event goes from June 27th, 2013 to July 7th, 2013. For more information or to buy tickets for any specific event, visit them online, or at www.ticketswest.com. You can also purchase tickets at any local Colorado King Soopers grocery store.
The Greeley Stampede is a long standing tradition that takes place every year in Northern Colorado for the last 91 years!!! This event is known internationally as one of the best Independence Day celebrations our country has, and for being one that focuses on Western heritage. Starting back in the 1800’s as a way to honor local potato farmers, this event has now grown to become one of the world’s most popular festivals attracting some 250,000 people each year!
Back in the day, the “Greeley Spud Rodeo” as it was known, used to feature bucking broncos, fancy roping, pie eating contests, horses, motorcycle and bicycle races and a “two-mile Model-T Ford ‘free for all’ race.” In the 1970’s the name was changed to its current one and the event transformed into what it is known as today. Nowadays, there is a Professional Rodeo, a kid’s rodeo, live music, a July 4th parade, a demolition derby, carnival rides, a midway, a western art show, and tons of food and fun!
This year's musical lineup is absolutely outstanding and features some of Country’s most popular known artists like Josh Turner (6/28/13), Lynyrd Skynyrd (6/29/13), Los Lonely Boys and Los Lobos (6/30/13), Jerrod Niemann (7/5/13) and Trace Adkins (7/6/13). General admission is $50 per person and $80 for reserved seating.
The Stampede Demolition Derby promises tons of entertainment and to be an extravaganza of crashes! More than 100 drivers will participate in this event, so if you are interested, please read through their rules and regulations which can be found here! The derby will be held on July 7th at 2 pm and costs $20-$25!
For the kids, there is a petting zoo that features domestic animals and a few wild creatures as well. Admission is free! In addition, the Stampede's mascots, Bucky and Bertha will be walking around handing out prizes and there is a Kids Korral that hosts plenty of fun entertainment!
The Independence Day Parade and Celebration starts at 9:00 am on July 4th. The parade goes from 20th St to 5th St through the city’s historic district. Be sure to get there early, as prime spots fill up hours if not days in advance!
