Now that the weather is warming up and spring is finally here, it’s time to start planning your camping trips. For many families, camping is something they do nearly every weekend, and for others it is more of a short summer vacation thing, but for Coloradans it’s something we do all year long and through all seasons! Of course, tent camping in the Rockies during the dead of winter is hard, although not impossible, and to many this is just what they are looking for. However, if that is not your cup of tea and you enjoy the comfortable amenities of RV camping, here are a few of Denver’s closest RV campground communities.
Around the Denver area, you will find many RV parks sitting on the outskirts of suburbs like Aurora. Aurora boasts 2 reservoirs, a number of golf courses, and many public parks. Located close to the Denver City Center and the Denver International Airport, you will find the Denver Meadows Mobile Home and RV Park. This facility is complete with hookup sites that are available all year long and includes restrooms with showers, laundry facilities, and a big recreation room.
If you are looking to cater to the 55 years and over crowd, you will find wonderful accommodations in the protected surroundings of the South Park Mobile Home and RV Community. Situated along Bear Creek shores in the suburb of Englewood, there are many city accommodations close by this facility like the light rail, shops, grocery stores, theaters, and medical centers. One of the main features of South Park is their large recreation room, where daily get-togethers and activities are available. Other features include a heated swimming pool, Internet services, restrooms with showers, and laundry.
Chatfield State Park is another year-round facility on the foothills of Denver which offers camping, boating, walking trails, swimming and wildlife. Campers have the choice of 197 RV and tent sites, all of which are walking distance from the lake. You can also choose between partial or complete hookups. The grounds include a dump station, restrooms, showers, laundry, restaurant, marina, and general store.
Chief Hosa Campground is located in Genesee Park about 22 miles west of downtown Denver. This campground has 26 tent sites in addition to 35 RV sites and features a historic lodge which can be utilized for hosting functions and special events, such as weddings or reunions. The campground facilities include showers, hiking trails, volleyball, horseshoes, 1/2 court basketball, dump station, and Wi-Fi.
Try any one of these places the next time you want to camp in the Denver area and you will be one happy camper!!!
