When I think of zip lining I usually flash back to my honeymoon in Jamaica, cruising from one jungle canopy to the next. I often think about how cool it was and just how great of an overall experience I had. Until recently, I thought this kind of tourism and adventure vacationing only happened in the Caribbean, and never realized I could have the same kind of monumental experience right here in my own backyard! Hopefully you guys are more hip to things than I was, but did you know there are tons of zip lining tour companies operating in Colorado? From just a brief Google search on the subject, I was able to discover that zip line tourism is HUGE in Colorado! From gliding over the Royal Gorge and the Colorado River, to running a zip line course, this is the perfect way for you and your family to spend one of the last weekends of the summer exploring our great state. Here are just a few of the companies I found that offer outstanding packages and tons of family fun!
The Glenwood Canyon Zipline Adventure Company is operated out of the Glenwood Canyon Resort right in the middle of Vail and Aspen. This spot is huge for summer fun and offers exhilarating zip line tours over the Colorado River in Glenwood Canyon. Cruise high up in the tree on one of their three 350 ft long zip lines or challenge yourself to do their High Adventure Ropes Course, Rock Climbing Wall, or their Leap of Faith challenge jump! Depending on which package you choose, their prices range from about $40 to $90 per person!
AVA Mountain Top Ziplines offer adventures in both Idaho Springs and Buena Vista, Colorado. The Idaho Springs tour is located just 30 minutes from Denver and is the perfect spot for a day adventure! Kids are welcome ages 7 and over! You and your family will soar through the trees and land on tall towers to enjoy some of the most spectacular views Idaho Springs has to offer. The Granite Buena Vista Zipline is located a bit further ways but offers world class views of the snow capped rocky Mountains. This course takes you over 44 acres and into territory only zip liners can experience! These packages are about $90 per person and totally worth it!
Fly like you never thought imaginable over the Royal Gorge plateau and the Arkansas River where you will get to see one of a kind views of Colorado’s 14,000 foot Sangre De Christo mountain range! This area is full of unique Colorado history and heritage, which you will learn about as you hike along to the first launch point. Experience Stage Coach Road unlike any settler ever dreamed possible! Tour prices range from about $90 to $150!
Located in Salida Colorado, about 2.5 hours from Denver, this facility is open almost year round! Say what? They have an outstanding Yelp presence and boast Colorado’s first aerial park and via ferrata! So beside zip lining along the treeline among Colorado's lush mountain landscape, you can also challenge yourself to over 75 obstacles, like their canyon jungle gym, swinging bridges, ladders, tightropes, and catwalks! You can also traverse the canyon's rock wall, without having any real experience due to their “smart” belay system. Rates are dependant on several booking factors!
