Colorado is mostly known for its impeccable outdoor recreational activities and its eco-friendly lifestyle, but what the average visitor may not know is that we also a have a booming food industry! Colorado style food is known for being healthy, fresh and locally produced. From the top restaurant chains, to the most high end establishments, true Colorado flavor and quality cannot be beat. Here is my list of the top 4, most famous dining establishments in Colorado’s Front Range Area.

Beau Jo's Pizza#1 Beau Jo’s Colorado Pizza makes my list at number one, simply because I am an East Coast originator and I live for a good slice of pie! The first time I was served a Beau Jo’s pizza, I thought to myself “what the heck is this!” AND, then I tasted it and thought out loud, “holy moly if this is how pizza should taste, what heck have I been eating in Jersey!”  Beau Jo’s Colorado style pizza is thicker than Chicago style pizza and more flavorful than New York style. The topping selection goes WAY above and beyond your typical pepperoni and mushrooms, and explores things like organic and gluten free ingredients. The BEST part of Beau Jo’s pizza is its thick and slightly sweet crust that is served with honey. The original Beau Jo’s is located at 1517 Miner Street in Idaho Springs and offers a truly authentic Colorado dining experience!

The Buckhorn Exchange#2 The Buckhorn Exchange makes number two on my list, but it should probably really be number one since they actually hold liquor license number one in the state of Colorado.  This historic eatery was first opened in 1893 and has a badass reputation that is spotted with such famous patrons as Buffalo Bill, Theodore Roosevelt and Ronald Reagan!  At the Buckhorn Exchange you are greeted by a friendly atmosphere and hundreds of mounted stuffed game, many of which are served up on their menu.  The restaurant is located at 1000 Osage Street in Denver and is a national historic landmark.  My favorite thing on the menu is the “Big Steak” which serves two and is the most delicious piece of meat you will ever eat.

The Fort#3 The Fort is located at 19192 Colorado 8 in Morrison and is by far one of the nicest dining experiences you will ever have, not only in Colorado, but anywhere. This huge replica of a historic fort features nine dining rooms and has a menu that will blow your mind. You get a true rugged frontier experience that is enhanced by world class service and gorgeous surroundings. A bit on the pricey side, but every patron I have ever talked to about it has said it was totally worth it and that they would definitely treat themselves to the experience again! If you are looking for a genuine Old-American, yet elegant meal, the Fort is the best place to get it!

The Broadmoor#4 The Broadmoor is a brunch lover’s paradise!  This establishment is known worldwide for its luxurious hotel accommodations, as well as its cuisine. People from all over travel to Colorado Springs to dine in their restaurants, where the menus vary from classic pub fare and steaks, to fine dining and traditional Western American cuisine. The famous Penrose Room, which has been featured on the Food Network, hosts the best brunch you will have in your entire life, I promise!
