Factory tours might not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think of touring the beautiful state of Colorado, but for those who have been on just one or two of the state’s top tours, they know they can be just as fun and exciting as anything else, not to mention educational! From popular brewery tours to candy factories, Colorado offers more than a couple of industrial type touristy activities.
Here are our top 5 factory tours in Colorado:Celestial Seasonings - FREE
Monday - Saturday 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
Sunday 11:00 am - 3:00 pm
Even if hot tea is not your thing, this tour is by far one of the best in Colorado! Located among Boulder’s majestic foothills, the free Celestial Seasonings tour offers a close up look at the nation's most modern tea producer. On the tour you will learn of the classic story of how a couple of Boulder hippies turned their love and passion for natural herbs and spices into one of the largest tea manufacturers in the world. This place makes number one on our list because you can make a whole day of it tasting free samples, browsing their art gallery, or dining at their cafe! Fall is the perfect time to plan a trip too!Coors Brewery - FREE
Monday-Saturday 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
Sunday noon - 4:00 pm
Do I even have to say why this one is on the list of the best factory tours in Colorado, if so, free beer, is all I’m going to say! Actually there are tons of really cool things about this tour including that it is self paced, a massive production plant, has tons of cool beer schwag all over, and is right in heart of Golden, Colorado. One thing to note: they do not allow bags (or purses!) in of any kind, just wallets and cameras. Taste the freshest beer the Colorado Rockies has to offer and then head over to downtown for a fantastic meal and a stroll along the river! A-maz-ing!Hammond’s Candy - FREE
Monday - Friday 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
Saturday 10:00 am - 3:00 pm
Remember as kids how we all dreamed of getting the “Golden Ticket” and touring Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory? Well, you definitely get to satisfy that dream when you tour Hammond's Candies. This tour was one of the most fun things I have done in a long time! From the nostalgic entrance and the amazing candy shop, to seasonal events and the handcrafted touch in everything Hammond’s does, you will leave there thinking there is no better candy cane than the one you just sampled!
Denver Mint - FREE
Monday - Thursday 8:00 am - 3:30 pm
Reservations are Required!
This tour is one of the most popular tours for corporate visitors and large groups. Going through the history of how money is made in Colorado, visitors learn a lot about the history of money making, as well as its modern processes. Admiring all the craftsman’s tools that have been used to make thousands and thousands of coins over the years, the mint’s 45 minute tour is sometimes not long enough to absorb all there is! Please note: the Denver Mint is a government building and there are special security concerns, so please be sure to check out their tour instructions online.Budweiser Brewery - FREE
Seven Days a Week 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
Again, free beer, it doesn't get any better than that! This tour is different from Coors which is why it made the list too. Not to mention if you time it right, you might just get to see the World Famous Budweiser Clydesdales West Coast Team as well. Please note: you need to keep an eye on their website to see if the Clydesdales will be there when you are planning to tour, as they are a busy bunch! In addition to their regular tours, they also offer more in-depth tour programs like their Beermasters Tour and Beer School Tour.
