Evergreen, Colorado

Evergreen, Colorado is located about 30 miles west of Denver, Colorado and is a little more than an hour away from Denver International Airport. The climate of the city is mild, with temperatures averaging in the low 80's during the summer and averaging in the mid 40's in the winter. The city enjoys around 296 days of sunshine every year. Evergreen, CO encompasses 30 square miles in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains and has a population of around 30,000 people.

Evergreen History

In 1859, a man by the name of Thomas Bergen decided to create his homestead in what is now Evergreen, Colorado. The surrounding hills did not have much appeal for the miners in the area, so Bergen established a ranch and stage stop to bring revenue into his community. Over time, many other ranchers, farmers, and lumbermen decided to settle there as well, slowly growing the community into the tranquil mountain town of today.
The town was a summer resort for the rich and famous from the early 1920's to the late 1940's, with the population of the city doubling every summer. When roads were improved in the 1950's and automobile travel became more popular, many new residents decided to invest in Evergreen real estate and make the city their home.

Evergreen Community

The residents of Evergreen are a diverse lot, with artists, scientists, homemakers, corporate heads, and engineers calling the city home. Many residents both live and work in Evergreen while some choose to commute to nearby Denver. Evergreen, CO real estate includes many single family homes, condominiums, and sprawling estates. Evergreen real estate and associated property taxes are often less than many other areas, providing a great incentive to relocate to the community. There are several organizations located in Evergreen that provide an outlet for local artists, singers, musicians, and thespians to practice their talents. These include the Evergreen Players (a theatrical troupe), the Evergreen Chorale, the Evergreen Chamber Orchestra, and the Evergreen Artists Association.
Evergreen is conveniently close to several mountain for nature lovers to enjoy the outdoors. With a short trip to Denver, Evergreen residents can enjoy national sport events, five star restaurants, and international museum exhibits. The area offers a unique mountain lifestyle and all of the amenities of city life are just a short drive away.
